    Hi,
After making the link library plugin directory writable (as directed by a warning message when first attempting to export library settings) I get a cryptic message that says:

    can’t open file

Am I supposed to have some file in place somewhere before running the export command? I can export all links just fine, but I cannot get the library settings to export.

    Thanks

I will investigate this issue this evening to first validate that the export works correctly, then see what I can suggest for you to look into.

Sorry, family life got in the way last night. I should be able to get to this today. I only do plugin work at night in my spare time.

What permissions did you set on that folder exactly? Did you set is at least as 775? I just tested the export functionality on my live site and it worked perfectly.

    Hi Yannick,

I had set 777, on two different WP 3.9 sites and it does not work. Do you have IThemes security on your site. I wonder if some setting with that plugin prevents the export??

    Thanks

I do not use iThemes security. It is quite likely that it would be interfering with this functionality. Can you turn it off momentarily, try to export and turn it back on?

    Hi,

I just turned it off and it still has the same error. Also just to be clear the permission change is only on the link library plugin folder and not the top level folder (plugins) or other folders within the link library plugin folder.

    Thanks

    Hi Yannick,

Dumb question why can I export links just fine and not the library if it was a permissions error? Do the links require different permission settings?

    Thanks

Please try to download the new version which I will be releasing soon. It will export links and settings to the uploads directory instead of the plugin folder.

Mark the issue as resolved if it fixes it.

    Hi,

That worked thanks. I had to use my secure ftp to retrieve the file but it worked.

    Thanks

Sorry about that. I see why you had to use ftp to download the file. That glitch will be fixed in the next update. Just used the wrong path to display the download link in the admin interface.
