I have not accessed my website for some time, but now my dashboard bookmark leads to a 404 error. I’m tried looking through my cPanel’s File Manager to see if any files have been moved or deleted, but to be honest, I don’t know what to look for.

What I do know, is that I installed a security plugin that changes the default WP login url, so that solution is out of the question. If I need to post photos of the file hierarchy, I can.

  • Here are some things you can try below.

Deactivate all plugins temporarily, if that fixes it then start turning on each plugin one by one to see which was causing the issue.

If deactivating all plugins by dashboard doesn’t work, try doing with FTP or phpMyAdmin.

You can also try switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme folder to “wp-content/themes”.

I have some other solutions I can provide however these are the ones that usually solve the problem, let me know if any of this has helped.

    Thanks so much, Dave.

I temporarily renamed the suspect plugin and my old dashboard bookmarked worked. Once in, I was able to update everything and we’re rock’n and roll’n.
