• I am about ready to give up! I am trying to convert my free wordpress blog to a self-hosted site thru godaddy.com. I have downloaded wordpress, created an account with godaddy and a dateabase. I edited wp-config (and have checked it a million times). I used filezilla to move everything over. BUT whenever I type in https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php, it brings me to my blog and and says page cannot be found.

    my domain is momsm.com.

another weird thing i saw is when i type in https://momsm.com/wp-admin/install.php after hitting enter it ALWAYS changes to https://kristinasdeals.wordpress.com/wp-admin/install.php. (kristinasdeals is the name of my blog with wordpress.com. Can anybody help? I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong! I know nothing about coding or any of this stuff, so i am STUCK!!!

  • momsm.com is pointing at wordpress.com, not GoDaddy. You have to change the domain name pointers at Wild West Domains to point to GoDaddy, not wordpress.com. Then wait up to 48 hours before the change has made its way around the world.

GoDaddy should have given you info about the Name Server info that they need you to use at Wild West.

Thank you! I have updated name servers to point to Godaddy.com (had to call for name servers) now I am just waiting for the info to update. I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

It is up and running, but everything is blank! Will have to see what happened to my database.
