  • Hi @timelymanner1,

    Could you please:

    • Go to your options page
    • Set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 15 on the options page
    • Save the options page
    • Go to the Diagnostics tab on the Tools page on the Wordfence menu
    • Check the box to “Enable debugging mode
    • Save the diagnostics page
    • Start a new scan
    • Copy the last 20 lines or so of the activity log and paste them here

    Thank you.

Received the error again, “Scan Failed
The current scan looks like it has failed. Its last status update was 49 mins ago. You may continue to wait in case it resumes or cancel and restart the scan. Some sites may need adjustments to run scans reliably. Click here for steps you can try.” Here are the last 20 lines or so of the activity log:

    Hi @timelymanner1,

Have you tried decreasing the “Maximum execution time for each scan stage
” to a lower value (“8”, for example)?

Also, in case it is enabled can you try disabling the scan option “Scan images, binary, and other files as if they were executable” which is located on the Wordfence “Options” page?

This scan option is mainly intended for using on known infected sites. It requires a lot of resources and is not necessary to use for normal scans. The reason for this is that non-executables such as images can not execute themselves. If there is malware in an image, there will be malware in other files on your server as well and those will be detected even with this scan option off.

OK, I changed Maximum execution time for each scan stage to 8 (“Scan images, binary, and other files as if they were executable” was already turned off) – still get error, “The current scan looks like it has failed”.

Tried turning on “Use low resource scanning”…same error

    Tried disabling all plugins…same error

Tried switching to default (twenty fifteen) theme…same error again.

    I’m currently out of ideas.
