Cannot get into my Admin page – changed setting and now page won't load.

  • Updating today I made a grievous error somewhere and now cannot even get into the admin portion of my WP site to fix things. When I try to nav to: https://www.artaux.org/wp-login.php I get a page not found error.

    I was attempting to fix and issue with page not found when you clicked on the home tab. And… it mushroomed into this.

    Anyone know what I did?
    I am semi savvy with code, so please take it easy on me. ??

    and now… the entire site is down. ?? can someone please take a look at this and see if they could help. I’m so lost.

    You need to retrace your steps. Where you in admin when this happened or in database? Hard to help when it could be a million things. =/

    i was in the database, i think, using the WP dashboard (if those are the same). i’m not sure what i did honestly. i’ve been trying to retrace steps all morning but not being able to get into the dashboard or the admin part of the site is making it kind of hard to fix this.

    i do have access to the files via FTP though.

    i’m very new at this. :/

    sorry i was in admin… blush. i was logged into wp-admin and then after changing a few things in a row (yes, stupid I know) i reloaded the page and then couldn’t get into the admin page again.

    Does anyone else have any sugguestions?

    I have tried everything I can think of.
    Deleted and reloaded the .htaccess file
    reloaded the wp-admin file.
    changed the passcode on my mysql database just in case.
    went through the plugins took them out put them back in one by one, nothing.
    did this with themes too.

    I’m at a complete loss what to do. I’m fairly sure the problem started when I changed the permalinks setting to “pretty links” then it all seemed to go downhill from there. The site has the pretty links now but none of the plugins are working, the theme is all messed up and I still cannot log into the admin side of things.

    I have the same problem, please let me know how to fix this. It’s extremely frustrating.
