• Hi!,

I cannot get the adaptive-images plugin to work on my site: https://reversehomesickness.com

When I try to run the debug true parameter there is no info.
    https://reversehomesickness.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_1568-768×514.jpg?debug=true

I tried to deactivate CloudFlare, Total Cache Plugin with no luck.

The plugin are active on my site – here is some debug info:

    PHP GD library is installed.

? Image cache directory has not been created.

But this is probably because the cache has not been accessed yet.
After accessing your website from a mobile device the directory should be automatically created.

    Hello, there,

Thank you for trying out our plugin!

Well, if you do have a CDN then you must enable the “CDN support” option in the plugin settings. However this is still an experimental feature and we will be making it more stable in future versions.

    Cheers,
    Takis

    Hello Takis!,
    Thanks for quick response.
I tried to enabled CDN Support. No Luck. I also tried to deactivate CDN. No luck.

CDN is turned off on the website now, if you want to check again. Thanks.

    Other ideas?

Hmm, it seems that the requests to your images do not reach the plugin at all. This is very weird. Either the htaccess has not been actually and correctly updated or perhaps there is a caching server in front of your website that alters (somehow?) the requests. I do see from your HTTP headers that you are probably using a Varnish:

    Accept-Ranges:bytes
    age:0
    Cache-Control:private, max-age=15552000
    Connection:keep-alive
    Content-Length:1699803
    Content-Type:image/jpeg
    Date:Wed, 14 Oct 2015 16:58:20 GMT
    Last-Modified:Wed, 07 Oct 2015 19:54:27 GMT
    Server:- Meebox Web acceleration -
    Strict-Transport-Security:max-age=15768000
    Vary:User-Agent
    Via:1.1 varnish
    X-Cache:MISS
    X-Cacheable:YES
    X-Powered-By:PHP/5.5.27
    X-Varnish:874820299
    Thread Starter steffanjj

    (@steffanjj)

So I need to ask my Hosting provider to turn off varnish or at least on all images request?
Adaptive Images for WordPress will nope work with Varnish?

    Plugin Author Takis Bouyouris

    (@nevma)

Well, if your htaccess is actually OK, then the problem might indeed be with Varnish. We must make sure of that first. Could you send me the part of it that refers to the plugin?

    Thread Starter steffanjj

    (@steffanjj)

    Sure, thanks for your time!.

    Now there’s a puzzle!

All seems right. The htaccess is right. Your settings are right. But somehow the requests do not go through the plugin script that the htaccess file dictates!

    1. Now, could it be that your Varnish has cached images from the past and we are seeing older versions that bypass the website and the plugin? Can you purge this cache?

    2. Also, could you check with your host to see if their Varnish settings allow HTTP GET parameters and cookies to reach your website when images are requested?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I am really curious to find out what is happening here… ??
