cannot get thumbnail to show up on front page

check if the template for the front page (index.php ?) has the code for thumbnails in the loop:

the_post_thumbnail() https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Function_Reference/the_post_thumbnail

and/or compare the code of single.php with the code of the front page template to see where and how the single.php has the code for a thumbnail.

a link to your site or at least the name of your theme would help …

the theme is maverick and i dont have the site up, just running it on my comp right now

both single php and index.php have this
$image_id = get_post_thumbnail_id();

and function.php has this add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails');

maverick seems to be a commercial theme by themeforest – please contact them for support with your problem.
