• Hi, I just moved to a godaddy hosted blog from WordPress.com and want to import my previous content. After importing the file got an error message:
The server encounter an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred and anything you might have done that may caused the error.

I’ve been struggling since moved to a godaddy hosted www.ads-software.com account. First, could not login into the admin. URL, and after changing DNS on godaddy now I’m able to do so but then this.

    Any suggestion?

  • i was having the exact same problem here is what someone suggested to me:

    adiant–
That is godaddy’s customization of the 500 Internal Server Error message. I can pretty much guarantee that they automatically killed the import process before it was finished, because they deemed it a “runaway task”, i.e. – it had consumed too much server processor (CPU) time.

    Two approaches are possible:

    1. talk to godaddy support, tell them the exact time and date, and what time zone you are in, and ask if they could exempt you from automatic “kill” just until you get the import completed; or
    2. learn enough about XML to divide up your import file into several smaller files, each less than 200 posts. And do several separate Imports.

Hi eskimofriends, I’m in precisely this same situation and have invested many hours trying to solve (w/o success, so far). GoDaddy support has been telling me “it’s a WordPress” issue and passing the buck.
I’m encouraged by the above comment from maisquared. I’ll try option 1 (“…talk to godaddy support, tell them the exact date…”) when I get home tonight.
I’m curious, did either of the two suggestions from maisquared solve your issue? If not, we’re you eventually able to successfully move your wp.com blog to GoDaddy? If so, how?
Any help is very much appreciated!

    Mark,

I’ve fought this issue for about 3 days this week. The issue really is caused by the image files — when you click the checkbox to import the attachments. If you don’t select this prior to import, all your blogs will import perfectly.

I kept trying import the posts with the attachments and had “remote sever errors each time.” Well, I found this post: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transferring-wordpresscom-to-wordpressorg-1?replies=3#post-358009

I kept thinking I needed to import the attachments so all the blog images would be hosted in my new www.ads-software.com install. But, after reading the post above, and doing a 1 post import, I confirmed that the URL link the images in the post points BACK to the orignal wordpress.com blog. This actually works fine; all you need to do is keep your original blog.

If you do want all the images in your new media library, you have to go in an update the links for every single image.

    I hope this helps …
