I have a Problem installing the Version 2.1.77 of NextGEN Gallery.
I have the version 2.1.62 running and wanted to update to 2.1.77.
Wordpress starts with the update process but fails with the message that the old version cannot be removed.
With this message the update stops. WordPress than tells me that nextgen-gallery/nggallery.php was deactiveted because of a failure: The plugin file does not exist.
So the NextGen Gallery does not show up in the plugin section any more. But I couldnt even reinstall it, because wordpress tells me the NextGen Gallery cannot be installed because it already exist.
It only help to do a full restore of my webspace.
Can you help me with my problem? I have further screenshots if needet.

@galrak – You will need to manually remove the /nextgen-gallery/ folder and all of its contents from under the /plugins/ folder. From there you should be able to re-install and re-activate via Plugins > Add New … Search for “NextGEN Gallery”

While during the process you inserted displays may not work they should be fine once you have finished re-installing and re-activating NextGEN Gallery.

    Thanks!

@photocrati Thanks for the quick response. I will try that tomorrow, when I have a fresh backup of my webspace. I will let you know how it worked.

    Thank you Cais, it works!

@photocrati Thanks Cais, it worked for me as well. After reinstall of the plugin all pictures and links to the pages are still there.
    Problem solved!
