I’m quite frustrated with this one…

I cannot install any themes or plugins from my logged in account. I can’t even install it from my desktop.

I’ve tried every way to manually upload that I know, short of going into Filezilla and doing it that way myself [had to do that for the plugins and now I can’t access my ‘manage plugins’ screen because it just shows up blank. Already took that problem to the plugin section here.].

    Any help would be…super amazing.

  • Using FTP – with Filezilla – is the only way of manually uploading themes and plugins.

Use Filezilla and rename your plugins folder to oldplugins and see if you can get into Manage Plugins in the Admin section.

I also cannot activate my plugins. I’ve uploaded and there they are but I cannot get them to my site to activate. I installed wordpress with fabstico . Is it possible there was something wrong with the installation. Is there something missing?

Actually, songdog, you can install plugins and themes when you’re logged into your dashboard. Maybe it’s just for users with their own private domains, but it is possible. I’ve been using my Filezilla though, since I can’t seem to download it through my dashboard any more.

Wouldn’t renaming that folder disable my plugins since the program would be looking for my plugins in the “plugin” folder?

Renaming your plugins folder will isolate the problem. If you have a bad plugin, then wordpress will show “Manage Plugins” without any plugins in it. Then you move one plugin at a time over to the new plugins folder and see when “Manage Plugins” crashes.

Great advice! I did that actually, deleting all my plugins and re-uploading them from a folder I had on my laptop. It’s amazing how many plugins just don’t work. Very sad.

Thanks so much for the help!

    Glad that worked….

Was similar problem and using Filezilla help to fix it. Thanks for ideas.
