• Hi,

Please, anybody, I need your help. I’ve installed wordpress on my site thevirtualdirectory.net but my problem is I cannot install 3rd party themes in it. Installation of themes from wordpress is okay. If I install 3rd party theme, after uploading it will redirect me to a blank page with error text “Failure to Connect To Web Server.” This same error can also be seen when I try to import sample.xml to my theme using WordPress Importer.

    Additional info:
I can install theme through cpanel but I would like to try to install it through wordpress dashboard because I will also try if I can import files through wordpress importer if my theme was installed through wordpress dashboard.

Please I will follow any guidance you may advise. Thank you in advance.

  • As this is a commercial Theme, you will need to consult the support offerings of the Theme developer.

Upload the theme via FTP or use a WordPress FTP plugin

    Hi Chip,

Thank you for posting. I have already informed elegant themes about this and also posted it in their sites forum but according to the moderator, I have to contact my webhost (hostgator). I did but they only installed it their way. I asked them on how they did it and according to them they just set the .htaccess to the correct format then uploaded the theme and imported sample.xml. After they installed it, I tried to verify if the problem was already fixed. I found out that the problem still exist.

I think the problem is not on the 3rd party themes because all the themes from different sources has the same error when I uploaded them.

I’ve done experiment to compare the results:
    1) when I install the theme from wordpress by picking it directly from the theme option in the dashboard, I mean APPEARANCE>THEME>search for a theme there then pick one>INSTALL — it installs successfully.
    2) but when I went to www.ads-software.com and downloaded that same theme then saved into my hard drive, then APPEARANCE>THEME>UPLOADED the theme from my hard drive — after uploading the file, now the error comes again.

To me, this sounds like a problem with your server configuration. Your hosting provider will probably have to help you figure out what the issue is.
