I created two staging sites to make sure this isn’t my fat fingers. This is what I did and what happened:

    Created staging site
Logged in fine with admin credentials
The fault I need to test occurs for a given user role, so checked that user existed and then logged out.
Tried to log in as that user, taken to a white page with small login box (page_id=1591), tried to log in, failed
Tried to go back to using my admin creds that worked a few minutes before, failed again
Can’t access the site, so had to delete it
    Twice.
I appreciate this isn’t noted as working with WP 5.0, so maybe I should wait until you issue an update?

    Hi @escol

Only users with the administrator user role can access the wp staging site.

To prevent this, just disable the wpstg plugin on the staging site or disable authentication to that site and create a new staging site.

please let me know if this works

    Thanks Rene

That didn’t work, but knowing that only admin users can access the site helps, as it tells me this isn’t what I need, as I’m trying to troubleshoot issues for regular users.

I’ll uninstall it. I’m able to test it on the live site if I take it offline out of hours, was just trying to find a way round ??

    It’s a great plugin though.
