I recently tried to redirect my previous url to my new url, using the Edit .function.php option detailed here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL

Needless to say, it did not work and now I can no longer sign into my original wordpress site. When I type in /wp-login the page is blank. I tried to fix it using the steps detailed here https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Login_Trouble from the cpanel in Blue Host, but nothing has changed.

Can someone please help me fix it so I can login to my old WordPress site? I still need to transfer some posts from that site to the new one.

See Changing The Site URL ? WordPress Codex for recovery instructions.

Have you tried changing the wp-config.php file?

    Hardcode the url in there.

Just to be clear can you provide me with the following info.

livinglavender.com and thestraightarrowblog.com are pointing to the same installation of WP on the server (& same folder)?

@songdogtech, as stated above, those are the steps I used that caused the problem in the first place

@john I have no idea hopw to change the wp-config.php file. A site has it’s own folder under the public_html file.

read the following info on how to edit the wp-config.php file.
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php

You’ll need to download and upload the file with an FTP program.

Check that the path points to the right folder on the server.

Also the “changing the site URL” instructions that you used is not meant for forwarding the domain to another installation in an other folder on the server. So change things back to the original state of your server.

Once you have the new site the way you want it you can change the DNS record on the server so that it point to the new location… this is not something that you can do in WP.
