I am trying to login to WordPress, but when I enter my username and password, it takes me to my websites 404 page rather than the WP dashboard.

  • Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap. Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – backing up your database

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Thank you, Esmi. I’m at 3.6 now.

And…? Did you try the steps posted above?

Yes I did. I appreciate your help, but you’re often quite snippy with your responses. There’s no need for it.

In that case, I will not offer any further assistance.
