Cannot Login to WP Admin – "nothing" happens

  • I just got my wordpress installed and running last night when several hours into editing, my wordpress broke. after navigating through a variety of issues like server error, redirect loop, enable cookies (when cookies are enabled), I finally made my way back to the standard wordpress admin login page. This is where my problem has left off…

    I go to login at /wp-admin, enter my username and password, press submit, and it looks like the page just refreshes. What can I try?

    Additionally, my site is un-viewable due to a redirect loop … and when it is viewed, there is no formatting or theme to my content.

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Maybe you just need to clean the browser cache? and disable cookies or enable cookies in your browser

    I can’t get to the admin page for my website which is still on the dedicated IP server. I was in the middle of building it out but haven’t touched it in a couple of months. I can see my site but can’t get to the dashboard.

    Please start your own thread. That way you stand a good chance of getting full attention to your specific issue. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
