Cannot make new page or post in 2.8

  • I recently upgraded to WP2.8 and not exactly sure when it broke (may have been at the upgrade or a few days later) but having problem creating new page or post. When I go to the new post ../new-post.php page, I can write in the WYSiWYG box, but cannot switch over to the HTML tab at all (no functionality there), if I save as draft or publish, everything I’ve written is gone except for the title.
    In IE, code check states the following error:

    Line: 9, Char: 3963, Error: ‘edButtons.length’ is null or not an object, Code:0, URL: XXX…/new-post.php
    Same error on New-Page.php (except for URL), plus 1 more:
    Line: 8, Char: 1, Error: Object Expected, Code:0, URL: XXX…/new-page.php

  • I have the same problem when using FireFox, after doing the latest upgrade.

    If I use Internet Explorer, I can switch to HTML by clicking on it, then clicking “save draft”, and when it’s in HTML mode it accepts text, but sometimes shows it all in white font, so it looks like there’s nothing there unless you select it. But it does actually put body-text onto a new Page that way, sometimes anyway!

    thanks chris, tried your suggestion but still does not work. I’ve killed all my plugins, not sure where to go next – trying to avoid re-building the entire site.

    I’m having the same problem. Did you find a solution?

    No, in fact, I reverted to 2.7 (which fixed that problem) but today, I downloaded 2.8 again and ironically, I can now see and use the HTML tab – but cannot get the the WYSiWYG tab….
