It started last night… with Chrome and Firefox browsers

    (1) I click “Manage Galleries”
    (2) Click on “a Gallery”
    (3) Page loads for 1-2 seconds, then goes to WordPress Admin login page
    (4) I try to log back in
    (5) I get ERROR: The password field is empty
    (6) NOTE: The password field is not empty…

    Any suggestions folks?

@djcarl – If this just “started last night”, what changed prior to you noticing this?

There could be a plugin conflict going on here or at least it should be ruled out. Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?

If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well.

If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Cais

I had someone try to make my site faster last week by:

1-enabling the caching system for the site – they added “w3 total cache”
2-enabling the leverage browser caching for the site
    3-optimizing the database

I added images to the NEXTGEN gallery, then I had my issue…

NOTE: I also have “varnish http purge” as a plugin and I think this issue may be related to all of that. I just have to figure how to fix it now…

@djcarl – My concern would be with this:

    3-optimizing the database

… this can cause problems with NextGEN Gallery’s database entries depending on how aggressive (and sometimes which plugin/method) the process is. Unfortunately in some cases it is not repairable either, although restoring a back-up prior to the “optimization” tends to correct any issue it may have created unintentionally.

Thank you for your help. I hope that my hosting company can help me with the back-up restore.

Plugin WP Smush may have caused a conflict. I will test this week. Thank you!

@djcarl – Please be sure if that plugin is causing issues to advise its author … and if I recall correctly they may still be offering a specific NextGEN Gallery version as well.

Thank you. WP Smush had a conflict with W3 Total Cache. 2.1.1 should have fixed the issue ??

    Problem fixed ??
