Cannot Modify Header Information

    Running WP 2.9.2 on a number of blogs. My primary domain is giving me this error when I try to access WP-Admin:

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/wpwendc/public_html/wp-settings.php:638) in /home/wpwendc/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 868

    I saw a few sources online that stated uploading a new version of the file (I found a zip of 2.9.2 and did it from there) would fix it, but I still get the error. Would a manual install of 3.0 fix this? I really need this domain up for my students!

  • Nine and half times out of ten, every time I see that message (“cannot modify header information”) it is due to a problem with the active themes functions.php file.

    Revert to the default theme and see if that works.

    Right now I can’t access WP-Admin, so I can’t log in.

    AH, I fixed it! There was some erroneous code from a hacker attack a few months ago. I removed that and all works now.
