Cannot modify header information: I have tried everything!

  • I seriously need help with this. I have looked through all of CODEX, and have deleted all white spaces before AND after the <?, even at the beginning. But I still can’t get this line to stop popping up, and I can’t even get past admin.

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-config.php:1) in C:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-admin\install.php on line 16

    The code after that (more “Cannot modify header information”) is all about the wp-config.php at line 1. I have pressed the backspace button on my PC between the < and ? at the beginning, pressed for 30 seconds, and typed the < again. BUt I still get the same message, over and over again. I even uninstalled wordpress and tried again, but it’s still there. I am seriously on my wits end.

    Please help?
