Ever since I upgraded to 3.7.1, I have been unable to move a captioned image to the left. It just sits in the middle with a coloured bar going to each side. If I remove the caption, the image can be positioned to the left.

This must be because of the upgrade, no problems before that. Can anyone help? I am not an experienced user, but I am not impressed by the inability to communicate with Word Press in any direct way when they have seemingly made a mistake following an upgrade.

  • You are communicating directly with volunteers on these free forums. If you need more personal assistance, you may want to consider hiring someone to help you.

That said, there was an image caption bug in 3.7, but it was fixed in 3.7.1. If you are sure you have 3.7.1, start by clearing any caching on your site and browser. Also, try another browser.

If that does not do it, deactivate your plugins and switch to the default theme to see if any of those are causing problems.

If that still does not work, please post a link to your site.

Thanks WPyogi. I do have someone to help me who is more experienced, and I will pass on your email to him.

I appreciate that the forums are manned by volunteers, and I appreciate you responding. I do, however, think that it is a cop out by Word Press to devolve all their so called ‘Support’ services to their own users!

I don’t have anything posted on my site yet, https://www.timbowden.com.au because I need to fix the problem first!

What I said may be misleading, I do have stuff on my site, but not since I upgraded to 3.7.1

I’d definitely suggest deactivating and/or updating your theme – looks like the version you are using is pretty outdated.

You are on 1.4.2 which is almost 2 years old.

NextGen Gallery plugin may also be problematic as it’s had major issues in recent months due to a major update.

    On the other –

cop out by Word Press to devolve all their so called ‘Support’ services to their own users!

www.ads-software.com is all free – no one here (or anywhere else) is paid – so how is that a cop out? There is no “services” – there is no income to pay support staff.

    Maybe you’re confused between www.ads-software.com and WordPress.COM?

Thanks for putting me right on the freebie angle! I eat my words…

What puzzles me, is that I have upgraded to 3.7.1!

So I’m puzzled why that is not reflected on what is on line. I have to use Firefox, because for some strange reason – I am a Mac user – I can’t manipulate images in any other browser.

Your theme or plugins may have compatibility issues. Can you try deactivating the plugins and switching to the twentythirteen theme temporarily? That will help us determine what’s going on.

Also try clearing any caches or cookies in your browser(s).

Hey, WPyogi, what do you know! After clearing the caches and cooked from Firefox, I tried again adding a caption, and what do you know, it behaved as it should!

So thank you very much. You sorted it. And I do now understand about Word Press being free, and how the system works.

I did have my web site set up by someone else, and there were fees for the hosting organisation, and others for enlarging the memory for the site. I didn’t know that Wortd Press was free. Do now though…

    And thanks again, problem solved.

Awesome – so glad to hear it was something pretty simple :). And welcome to the free world of www.ads-software.com too. Don’t hesitate to come back if you run into other questions – there’s lots of good helpers around here most of the time.
