Working on a new WordPress install, and I’ve found that I cannot preview any of the installed themes. I can activate themes, and I can make changes to theme settings via the customizer.

Furthermore, it’s only installed themes I can’t preview. If I go to install a new theme via the installer, I CAN preview those just fine. But once I install them, no preview will show.

I’ve noticed that when I install, I do not get the confirmation message that the install is complete (along with the links prompting to return to the theme director, etc.)

Normally, when you install a theme it looks something like this:

    Installing Theme: [theme_name]

    Downloading install package from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/theme/[theme_name].zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Successfully installed the theme [theme_name].

Live Preview | Activate | Return to Theme Installer

However, no text displays after the “downloading” message.

I should also note that the above also happens with installing new plugins – I get the line saying the download has started, but no confirmation of completion.

    Any ideas?

Also, wanted to add that I’ve already tried reinstalling WordPress via the update panel, and also tried manually re-uploading the WordPress core files. Deactivating all plugins has also been tried.

Just wanted to add that dropping the database and reinstalling also didn’t change anything.

Did I post to the wrong forum?

Disabled gzip compression via my wp-config.php file.

That seems to have solved it.
