    Hi.

I wanted to simply go over the settings of Yoast SEO on my site, and got to this error message:

Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘prevOffset’)

I saw an existing topic about this issue here and the relation to a problem with translations, but didn’t understand it and how to resolve it in my case.

I should mention that my site is in Hebrew.

So why is this happening now and how do i resolve it?

    Thanks.

@kobibentata We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

I understand you’re getting an error on the Yoast settings page of Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘prevOffset’).

This error is typically caused due an outdated translation. You should get an update on your Dashboard>Updates to update your translations. Can you please update it and see if the issue resolves?

If the issue persists,?you may need to deactivate and reactivate the Yoast SEO plugin and?check again for updates.

    Hi.

    Thanks for this reply.

I saw the reference to the translations issue on another topic here for a similar error message, and already checked that.

Right now, there are no updates whatsoever on the sites that show this error.

I also removed Yoast SEO plugin from the site and re-installed it.

WP is on latest version, and all plugins are updated, including translations…

    Hello @kobibentata,

There’s a bug in a current translation for the Hebrew locale with the order of placeholders in the translation breaking the HTML validation.

A temporary workaround is to leave your site language settings (under Settings > General) to he-IL (Hebrew). But for your user profile (Users > Profile > Language), set that to English (US). Our plugin settings UI will work for you.

    I see.

It’s good to have a workaround of course (and it indeed does tha trick in this case!), as better having something than nothing, but is there an estimate for issuing a fix for this bug?

And thank you for taking the time and replying me here with this valuable information and update!

    Hey @kobibentata ,

    Thank you for your reply.

We pinged the original translator to update the string on translate.www.ads-software.com. When that is approved and it’s then the current translation, not long after you should get a translation update in your dashboard, and after installing it, the issue should be fixed.

    Thank you very much!
