Cannot read property 'def' of undefined

It’s not possible to quite work out what is going on here without seeing the page’s HTML. In essence, there’s a script (which looks like plugins.js – but may be an earlier one on the page) that appears to be breaking jQuery and all the scripts that depend on jQuery – possibly due to load order. This isn’t a Rotating Tweets script, but it would have the effect of breaking Rotating Tweets.

What JavaScript scripts are running on your page and what order do they load in? Alternatively, please email a link and I’ll have a look on your page directly.

Do you see any error messages when Rotating Tweets is deactivated or if you use version 2 of the Rotating Tweets JavaScript?

When deactivated, I don’t think I get an error but I do have, an error that might be part of it:

12097
Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function plugins.js:8

n.fx.tick jquery.js:4

– the 12097 keeps going up, non-stop.
– With the version 2, I get tons of “cannot read peropert ‘def’ of undefined messages

I’ve been to look at your site and it looks like Rotating Tweets isn’t the only plug-in that’s having problems. And strangely, if I go to the Dashboard, it starts working!

What happens if you switch off the plug-ins one at a time (including any JavaScript you’ve written in directly like the Coindesk widget)? Does switching any of them off eliminate the problem? If so, it may be possible to create a workaround.

Alternatively, what happens if you try another template for a few minutes as a test (in order to change the JavaScript that it uses)?

EDIT: actually it’s still having random problems but it is much better than it was before but still acting screwy ?? Maybe I just need to switch to a different theme completely. Shame I paid $55 for it.

It seems that there was a combination of two things that broke my webpage: coindesk widget code and any font plugin.

EDIT AGAIN:

Turns out there was a 3rd plugin causing issues called ShrinkTheWeb Website Thumbnails. what a disaster!!

I suspect the problem with the coindesk widget code is that it calls various javascripts on its own site. My understanding is that Chrome is now very unforgiving on cross-site scripting – so, at some point, they will need to update their code or write their own plug-in.

On the others, it might be worth experimenting with other plug-ins to see if they give you the result you want. When plug-ins break sites, people quite often create new ones that don’t.
