Cannot remove blogroll and other “widgets” from sidebar

I’ve installed a few new themes over the past couple of days and now it seems that now I have specific widgets like the blog roll (links), meta, and categories listed in my right sidebar towards the bottom (everything under the “latest games” widget). i can’t seem to figure out how to remove them- and no they are not showing up as active in the widget UI.. any ideas?

PS: I’ve tried adding / removing other new widgets to see if the default ones would go away but that did not work either.
