Cannot remove date, author and “comments closed”

    please can you help me with removing all three? I tried

    .entry-meta {display:none !important;}
    .home .entry-meta { display: none; }
    .entry-footer {display:none !important;}
    .home .entry-footer { display: none; }

    in css but it does not work..
