I can’t seem to figure out why I’m still seeing the <meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow"/> tag on my website.

I’ve double and triple checked that the Search Engine Visibility checkmark was NOT checked in WordPress settings. In the Yoast Search Appearance settings, I’ve double checked that all content types are allowed to be included in search results. I’ve cleared the cache on my browser, at the server level (the site is hosted on Kinsta).

Even after all of these things, I’m still seeing the no index, no follow tag. Is there anything else I can do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @bibliofille,

We’re sorry that you are experiencing problems that might be caused by our plugin!

You say that you’ve already checked the settings and ensured that everything is correctly set for indexation.

However, I can see that you are not yet on the latest version of Yoast SEO (being 14.1) and WordPress (being 5.4.1). Could you update to the latest version of both Yoast SEO and WordPress and see if that resolves the issue?

If that does not resolve the issue, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Looks like the latest update hasn’t fixed that as I just fixed a client site with this same exact issue.

As an administrator on the site, when going to “pages > all pages” and clicking “edit” the yoast SEO metabox is missing the “advanced” tab where this setting would normally be possible to change.

I had to go under “SEO” on the left sidebar, click on “general” and “features” and turn off the “Security: no advanced settings for authors” just so I could see this (maybe another bug?).

Just thought I would post this here as it may possibly help solve the issue for @bibliofille

    Hi @crazywpgeek,

The 14.0.4 bugfix was for an issue introduced with the 14.0 releases. However, @bibliofille is not on version 14.x yet, so it’s unlikely this is the cause.

Nevertheless, @crazywpgeek, thank you so much for thinking along. Appreciated!

@michielatyoast @bibliofille No problem guys ?? Appreciate it.

Hello! I updated the version of Yoast SEO to the current one, and that did not solve the no index, no follow issue.

It also created another issue. I’m getting an error about not being able to create database tables.

Again the site I’m talking about is https://www.learncharter.org/

    Hi @bibliofille ,

We’re sorry to hear that you were still having issues on your site with the “noindex” tags.

However, we just checked https://www.learncharter.org/ and we could not find the tags there. Can you please let us know if you managed to find the cause and were able to remove the tags?
