Cannot send session cookie – headers already sent by

  • I realize my wp installation is old and my installation of this plugin is old (Version 1.5.5) so you probably have fixed this already. But just in case you haven’t or someone else runs in to this…..

    I’m getting this error after a server move.

    Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie – headers already sent by (output started at /home/_____/public_html/live/wp-content/plugins/events-made-easy/eme_categories.php:547) in /home/_____/public_html/live/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 470

    Probably some setting on the server is different to allow this to be an issue. But if you don’t feel like messing with server settings the fix seems to be to remove the extra line after the closing ?> at the bottom of eme_categories.php. After you do that and do a hard refresh on the dashboard you’ll get an other similar error. Find that php file and remove the extra line again. Repeat until you don’t see any more errors.

    Sorry, I thought when I selected wp version to post this it would show. I’m on WP Version 3.9.2.

    Although I appreciate the feedback, you should really update both WP and all your plugins, for security reasons alone already.
    And no trailing lines in eme_categories.php or any other here …
