If I insert a query loop block for use on an archive page, I cannot set the number of posts to display per page if the block is set to “Inherit query from template.” Activating the “Inherit…” setting removes the page settings button from the block toolbar.

If I disable “Inherit query from template,” I can set the number of post to display but then, the template does not know what to display.

For example, if I use the Query Loop block for category pages it will show posts from all categories mixed together unless I activate that “Inherit…” setting. But if I do that, I cannot control how many posts to display per page.

I am using Twentig 1.4.7 with the Twenty Twenty Two theme. In case it matters, I also have the Gutenberg plugin 13.8.2 installed, but deactivated. (It makes no difference if the Gutenberg plugin is activated or not – same issue either way.)

    Hi,

On the query block of your archive page, you should activate the “Inherit query from template” setting. Then, inside your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Settings > Reading and change the “Blog pages show at most” option to change the number of posts (it’s a bit complicated, but this is how WordPress works).

Also, we don’t recommend that you activate the Gutenberg plugin because some of its features are experimental and unstable, and Twentig isn’t fully compatible with Gutenberg.

    Hope that helps ??,
    Diane

Thank you. That worked. I’m changing from the Avada theme where I never needed to set it in the WordPress settings. It’s been so long since I’ve needed that setting that I’d forgotten it was there.

Thanks for the heads up, glad it works. If you enjoy Twentig, please rate it. It would really help me out ??
