Cannot Stop Comments

I cannot get 3 of my 8 sights to stop receiving SPAM comments. I need NO, NONE, NADA, ZILCH comments on my sites. Yes, Settings>Discussion comments are unchecked. I’ve gone through every page and insured “allow comments” is unchecked. My other 5 sites are set up the same way as these 3 and comments continue to pour in. Ive tried antispam plugins that are highly rated…no luck. I don’t have experience messing with the code…that’s why I use WP, I believe in KISS. I’m at a loss. Thx
