    Hi there,

I am fighting this issue for a long time and I haven’t been able to make anything out of it. The issue is simple – I am unable to translate comment input box labels into my language. I’ve tried to translate every piece of language file there is, both in WordPress directory, in theme directory, I’ve searched every plugin and nothing helped. There is still “Name” “Website” “Email” in english and not my language. It’s properly translated in Loco Translate so why doesn’t this change show on the real page?

I am having this issue with another plugin, where I translated word “Tag” and it’s definitely a correct string, but it doesn’t get translated on the page, no matter how much I clear cache and everything.

All the other translations are working fine, so why not these?

Is there a possible solution for this seemingly unsolvable problem?

Thank you in advance and have a great day!

    Vlk

What displays these fields? Are they from your theme, or part of a plugin? Whichever it is please post a download link so I can check if it’s internationalized properly.

In the mean time you’ll find some tips in FAQ: Why can’t I translate these specific words?

Thank you for quick reply! I wasn’t able to find out, but support of the Theme I am using is claiming it is not their theme that displays the field. I am really confused, because everything is translated, both in the core and in theme and still, the fields are shown in english. Seems like a dead end, but how could it be?

My page is https://www.avifauna.cz. If you click on any article and scroll down, you can see the fields are in english. I found the correct strings in Loco translate and made a translation but it hasn’t worked. Nor does it work when I do it manually through FTP on other language files. It seems like there is something higher that controls this part and is blocking the translation maybe?

But it is very weird since everything else is working well on the page and everything was translated correctly, except this very thing.

It’s not that weird. It’s very common. I get dozens of similar queries every week. Almost always the problem is either out of sync files, or a badly written theme/plugin.

It doesn’t matter what’s in your translation file if your theme isn’t using it, or not using it properly. You have to find out for yourself what’s displaying the forms. A link to your site won’t tell me that.

I suggest disabling ALL plugins on your site and seeing if the placeholders disappear. If they’re still there then they’re in your theme, because they’re not part of the WordPress core.

I notice you have optimising/caching plugins installed. The first step in debugging anything should be to disable those.

Interesting. I thought it’s uncommon because nobody has been able to help me and I haven’t found any useful information on the net.

I’ve tried deactivating all plugins completely and the problem persisted. So is it within the theme then? Is there a way to do anything about it?

Going back to my first reply — please post a download link so I can check if it’s internationalized properly.

Ok, should I send link to a language file? Theme .po?

Post a download link to your theme.

Actually nevermind. I see that your theme is commercial.

    This one right? https://themes.themegoods.com/grandnews/demo3/

I notice that their demo page has the same placeholders as you.
    Example form.

So the text DOES come from their theme, or a plugin bundled with their theme.

Yes, this is the theme I am using. So I suppose I need to contact their support again? They didn’t help me back then though. ?? Supposedly couldn’t do anything with it.

They probably assume I will do their hard work for them, and they already have your money.

Yes, I suggest you ask them why their demo shows the strings you’re asking about if they’re not a part of their theme.

Thank you, I will contact them tommorrow and try to press a solution out of them.

Oh wonderful, so I found out that after the expiration of a support license, they don’t support you anymore unless you pay them. So I guess this is dead end again. I’ve been trying to find the right string in the theme core php files but it seems like these damn placeholders are nowhere to be found. I was able to translate them through Chrome inspect element funcionality, when I simply overwrite the placeholder text in the code, but where is the actual information within the theme files I have no idea.. :-/

I need to close this issue, because it isn’t a bug in my plugin. The flaw is quite evidently in your theme.

If you can’t post the whole source code of the theme due to a commercial license, then I can’t help you any further.

Sure, I understand, I will hopefully solve this issue once we will have the budget to hire a programmer. Thank you for your effort and time, I appreciate it.
