Cannot upd ate Page title

  • Created a new Page. Gave it a title, it saved and displayed correctly.

    Now I want to create a new title for the page. I can enter it, but the page title will not change. Everything else about this Page can be modified, saved, and comes up right — even the title of the page on the menu — but not the Page title.

    Have tried everything. Please help.

    When I edit and save this page, the title is correctly set to “Press Release 12-01-14” and appears fine.

    However, when the page is displayed, the title remains as originally entered, which I do not want — “Pacific Royalties Acquires Key Licenses”

    Sorry, I need to be more clear:

    1. The name of the page in the menu is correct, and can be changed.

    2. The title of the page displayed at the top of the page above is incorrect, and cannot be changed.

    Look at the first menu choice under the “Library” top menu. It reads, correctly, “Press Release 12-01-14” yet it leads to a Page with the incorrect title “Pacific Royalties Acquires Key Licenses”

    Why? How can I synch these up? In every WP site I’ve ever designed, this connection has been automatic, and there is no problem changing the title of a Page. 4.0.1 may have regressed somehow.

    I am doing as you suggest, will let you know.

    But this error seems to me to be well below the Theme level, something fundamental in WordPress.

    I have tried on this site, and NONE of the Page titles can be updated. Once a Page title is created, it is fixed for all time.

    I am using fully-updated WordPress and Atahualpa.
