Cannot update or uninstall W3 Total Cache

Updated to WP 4.6.1

Then clicked to update W3.

Site crashed with this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_cache_get() in /hermes/bosnaweb10a/b2162/nf.vigor/public_html/redkobold.com/wordpress/wp-includes/option.php on line 1117

I cannot enter the Admin console unless I rename or delete the folder for W3 in the plug-ins folder. With it renamed or deleted however, I cannot update it or delete it or reinstall.

Through FTP, I deleted the folder then downloaded the latest W3 zip and manually installed through the Admin console but site crashed again so I renamed the folder to be able to get back into Admin.

Now I have this error:
W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /hermes/bosnaweb10a/b2162/nf.vigor/public_html/redkobold.com/wordpress/wp-content/object-cache.php.

Any advice on how to proceed and get this all cleaned up?
