Did the filter solve the plugin updating for you, too? I had to address that issue separately (with a hack pending action on this bug from WooCommerce).

@ck-macleod Hello, yes I just used the filter code and nothing else and that sorted out the issue for me. I can now update products and activate/delete plugins as normal.

Thanks @geoffreycrm It could be that my hack was necessary only due to peculiarities of the installations I was working on, possibly including previous attempts to solve by direct db editing (somewhat as was suggested earlier on this thread).

I’m not sure I’ll ever learn the answer, as frankly I can’t spend much more time on this crisis right now. Either way, one might hope that action soon by Automattic devs will obviate the necessity of adding anything to the site, and let us remove emergency additions of all types. Maybe things’ll be clear when they solve it.

@cavedebacchus I don’t know very much about editing php code. I used to Code Snippets plugin (which makes this kind of thing much easier for people who don’t know loads about it like me) and pasted the code into this plugin and that worked for me.

Same here. PLEASE FIX THIS FAST!!! I am losing $$$. I already opened a ticket on this Friday and still no decent reply for a fix. I see the hack fix in the tread above (thank you), but I am not a programmer and would never touch any files – I just role with plugins as I don’t know how to do any of that stuff. I do have the Woo app on my iPhone, but I also receive the 524 error when I try to edit products on my phone.

I will restate my Friday ticket here:

I have deactivate EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN on my website, except 4.9.1. I have the Storefront theme. And yet, I still can not edit product – I get a 524 error. I have gone rounds and rounds today with SiteGroud and Cloudfare and they both are saying it is WooCommerece. And yes, I’ve purged my CDN. Can someone please help me? Here is current system report. @cavedebacchus @sportswreathshop I downloaded the Code Snippets plugin and went on WordPress dashboard and then went to the Code Snippets plugin down the left hand side. Click on add new and then paste this code in:

add_filter('woocommerce_admin_features', 'pk_woocommerce_admin_features');
function pk_woocommerce_admin_features($features) {
	if(($key = array_search('remote-inbox-notifications', $features)) !== false) {
		unset($features[$key]);
	}
}

Then save it and make sure it is activated and you are done. There might be people who are much more knowledgable than me who know better ways of doing this but I am not confident editing php files and this worked for me. I understand some people have needed to do more and add extra code but I guess it just depends on the exact setup of the WordPress site. This worked for me and I can now update products and activate/delete plugins as usual.

@sportswreathshop I am sorry to hear that! Hopefully, someone will be along who knows more about it than me and can help you get it fixed, or WooCommerce will release an update because a lot of people seem to be having this problem.

I’m having the exact same problem since January 22 (2021). Unfortunately I didn’t see this post yesterday and posted another one. I gave quite a detailed description of the problem and of what I tried to solve it (should someone be interested: “type E_ERROR Connection lost. Saving has been disabled… / Critical Error”).

I haven’t tried Dasbuilder’s solution (I will try it now) but shouldn’t Woocommerce come up with an update to solve this?? Seems like a major bug.

Adding the following code into your functions.php file:

add_filter('woocommerce_admin_features', 'pk_woocommerce_admin_features');
function pk_woocommerce_admin_features($features) {
	if(($key = array_search('remote-inbox-notifications', $features)) !== false) {
		unset($features[$key]);
	}
}

So the code is the same, just put in somewhere else.

This solved the problem for me.

A simple fix would can be implement by adding option to wp_options table
if (!get_option(‘wc_remote_inbox_notifications_specs’)){
add_option(‘wc_remote_inbox_notifications_specs’, ”);
}

proposed fix for next update:
A conditions should be added to check if wc_remote_inbox_notifications_specs exists in run method
