• I cannot update my WordPress theme to 3.8.1, but when the support team over at 1&1 were finally able to get it updated, my theme did not work.

When I try to update now on my own, I get this error message:

Warning: copy(/homepages/2/d480666746/htdocs/backup-wordpress/conciergedtla/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /homepages/2/d480666746/htdocs/backup-wordpress/conciergedtla/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 200
    Could not copy files.

    Installation Failed

I had the 1 & 1 support team help me update WordPress successfully to 3.8.1, but then my theme did not work with the new update. So we reverted back to the way it was with WordPress version 3.5.2 to get it working again.

I’d like to update WordPress but I cannot lose this theme in the process. Any ideas?

  • This has absolutely nothing to do with your theme.

Ok, let me rephrase. I cannot update my WordPress theme, but when the support team over at 1&1 were finally able to get it updated, my theme did not work.

What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap. Choosing another, more recent, theme is going to be a lot less stressful (and a lot less expensive) than cleaning up your site after a hacker.

I was not aware. I think it’s a custom theme. It’s called DTLA by Anonymous (our last webmaster who is not reachable). I could not find one that is anything like our current theme and I couldn’t have the site down while I tried to find one.

Once it updates, the site is down.

I’m sorry but if this is a custom theme, you will need to get back in touch with whoever created it for you. We only support themes downloaded from www.ads-software.com here.
