• I am working on a site for a friend. The URL is the-approach.com.

I tried uploading but it is requesting FTP user/pass etc., which he states he does not have. I now cannot do anything at all with this.

ANY thoughts would be deeply appreciated.

  • What kind of server is being used for this website?

You can not upload…what exactly? Images/video/sound to the Media library?

How are you working on the site? How are you editing (or trying to upload) the templates and code?

@senff, I am sure he has trouble uploading about anything in the backend and I know this is a more likely server issue as I have experienced that myself before.

@respectyoda — that’s what I thought but I’m confused how you can try uploading if you don’t have a server/user/pass in the first place.

@systemad — you DO have an FTP server to upload to, but just not the user/pass?

If that’s the case, you absolutely need that, or else you simply can’t work on it. You may want to check with the hosting provider to see if they can give you that info.

@systemad, you have to either 1) obtain the FTP username and password from the hosting provider or 2) go to the account on the hosting provider’s site and create your own FTP account (make sure you have access to the root folder).

Now, like I said, it depends on what kind of server you have and if it is the server I am thinking of, there is a way to ensure that this doesn’t pop up again.
