    Hello,

on https://blog.kirheja.com it is not possible to upload any picture via the media library anymore.

Four weeks ago it did work. I did not change anything to the site. But today, when I try to upload an image only a grey placeholder is appearing as a thumbnail, below that the name of the file is appearing. At the right I can see the correct path to my uploads/2015/5 folder.
The only thing I cannot do is give the file a size to place it in the post content.

After looking in the uploads folder, the uploaded file is not there.

I disabled all plugins.. I set the file and folder permissions to 755 for uploads and subfolders.

Still no go. It’s strange because 4 weeks ago it worked like a charm. The only thing happend where some automatic updates on the wordpress files.

I cannot find a sollution and this matter drives me crazy. Can please someone explain to me what i can do to make it work again?

Thanks in advantage and I hope you all will have an awesome day.

  • I can confirm the problem. Grey placeholder thumbnail, no file size, upload folder not present.

I still haven’t figured out a solution, but I do know it’s a problem created after the WordPress 4.2.1 update. Under 4.2.0 I uploaded a document on May 4th. Today I uploaded a document AFTER updating to 4.2.1.

Also like you I de-activated al the plugins one by one and checked the CHMOD on the FTP server. The usual stuff in this cases.

I tried a work around but it didn’t work. Upload document in media uploader > and try to upload image true FTP. Nope.

I hope someone has a solutions, because I have back-ups. But they are more then 1.5 week old.

I tried one last thing and that is to manually re-install the wordpress files.

    No success!!

Same issue here. It;s driving me crazy. However trough my iPhone wordpress app it is possible. That’;s even stranger. In the last 24 hours i installed 3 plugins. Twitter, Instagram and a custom post widget. Any of you guys install these? (to cross check if we have something in common).

    I’m using the Theme Blogrr

I did not install any new plugins for a month. I’m using XTHEME. I tested it and yes I can upload from my iPhone to! Very strange…

Also WordPress 4.2.2. does not solve the problem. Just updated and tried it out.

I do not have that app. I don’t have any plugins left because I turned them off.

All old pictures are there and i can adjust the size. Only the new ones aren’t uploading to the folder.. but the medialibrary keeps them in memory .

yeah a work around should be really nice because I need to post some events!

And since i dont know what causes this issue I cannot put a backup back because I am not sure when this started to happen.

You can install the WordPress app on your phone. Really easy to use and add pictures.
    For a different workarround check.

on https://blog.kirheja.com it is not possible to upload any picture via the media library anymore.

When you try and upload are you getting any error messages?

Have you tried the usual troubleshooting step?

    1. Deactivate all of your plugins, no exceptions
    2. Switch your site to the Twenty Fifteen theme
    3. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies
    4. Re-log in again and attempt to upload a picture via the media library?

Those are temporary troubleshooting steps and once you’ve tried it to identify where the conflict is then you can put it back.

*face palm* clearing browser cache actualiteit works. Problem solved for me!

Ok dont ask me why but it is working again.

First I did what @jandewbowski said.

Still not working after that. Then I installed Add from server

That was suggested here: Forum topic

I tried to upload a picture by ftp to the uploads folder. Imported it with the add from server plugin and then it worked.

Then I tried to upload a picture by the normal Media Library way .. and it showed up.. and did work!!

I don’t have a clue what solved my matter…….. But i am very very happy it is working again.

    jap

sometimes the solution is so easy ??
clearing safari cache solves it here too.
    thanks a lot.

I had the same problem and (after trying all attempts indicated) I solved simply by going to SETTINGS / MEDIA where there is a field that indicates the directory to save images.
It was enough to correct it with the default settings, in general:
    wp-contents / uploads
