Is that all the error says? Can you quote it in its entirety?

I get the same thing. My permissions are set to 777 and I still get this message

The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/xxxxx.com/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads.

    Thanks

I would imagine the problem is similar (or the same) as these posts:

The uploaders (both of them) are broken. You can only use the browser uploader if security is left wide open, and you can only use the flash uploader if you are a magician (and security is left wide open).

I too am having problems uploading/inserting images when trying to do so in a post. I get this message:

Are you sure you want to do this?

    Please try again.

And it keeps looping without opening the upload link. It does the same with video, music and add media.

I am using Thesis. I suspect that there’s a conflict with a plugin or widget. Any ideas? Thanks.

@prcindy I am not sure you are having the same problem as the rest of us. We’re trying to upload images to the media library using the flash uploader and your problem seems to be that you cannot place images on a page. Is that right? Are you able to upload images?

Thanks Pixelnate ! I didn’t look further today and I appreciate the links.

Anybody solve this? Any pointers? Sorry to be annoying on this issue, but none of the fixes are working or appropriate. Setting permissions on any directory on the web to 777 is not a solution.

The support guys at my hosting company (Rails Playground) found this link. It worked perfectly. The best part about it is that my wp-content and uploads directories are both set to 755.

Hello, I am also getting error message “HTTP error.” whne i try to upload picture with my wordpress site. Occasionally it also gives an errro message of “Failed to write file to disk.” All this just started as of today.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

most of these erors comes from .htaccess
    whats your wp version?
