Cannot upload images – permissions error

    When attempting to upload images, I get the following error:

    Unable to create directory /home/xxxxxcom/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    In the supporting docs, I found the information concerning changing file permissions, which I believe I have done correctly. The permissions for the folders are now “755”, but I am still getting the same error.
    Any ideas?

    set 777 for uploads folder and any folder under it, if this is the first time uploading image, you can delete uploads folder and create a new one then chmod to 777.

    make sure in Misc menu, Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders checked
