I recently upgraded to WP Photo Album Plus v5 and it appeared to fail and I had to deactivate, remote the plugin directory and install from v5 directly. Everything appears fine, in terms of what was there before. However, when I created a new album and attempted to load multiples (every way – multiples, select multiple singles, import from depot and media library, etc.) it brings me to https://www.keeponpedaling.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wppa_upload_photos with just a blank page and it appears to only load the first image in the selected files to upload. The page will show some messages during an import (green indicating image loaded – first one – and also red indicating duplicate that did not load).
    I have tried the following:
1 – disabling all plug-ins and using twenty twelve theme only.
2 – all of the available reset to defaults and cleanups in table VIII A that were relevant.
    3 – turned on debugging

I am at a loss and would appreciate any help you can offer. I have quite a few albums/photos and would hate to have to start over.

    Maybe a server limitation.

You can manually ( by ftp ) re-install the previous version ( see https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-photo-album-plus/developers/ version 4.9.18.

As soon as installed RUN THE SETUP ACTION ON TABLE VIII-A1!!!!!

Thank you as that seemed to solve the problem Please let me know if I did this correctly. I deactivated 5.01 and then renamed the wp-photo-album-plus directory in …/plugins and then copied the contents of the zip file for 4.9.18 into …/plugins/wp-photo-album-plus directory and then activated the plugin. I immediately ran the setup action as you noted and it appears to be working fine now. While this is a workable solution, it leaves us at an impasse with respect to upgrades unless we fully understand what was preventing the plugin from working on the 5.01 version…any suggestions on determining the root cause so that we can maintain the plugin going forward?

You did perfect. This was ment to get you running again, now we have time to sort things out…

Please check Table IX-A3: Allow wppa+ debugging. This allows me to see your php config that may help in diagnosing

Debugging in Table IX-A3 is checked.

    Thanks for your help.

I do not see any reason why version 5 should not work.

    What you should do is:

    Add to wp-config.php the line:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

This may cause the display of warnings from theme or plugins, ignore them or de-activate the plugins that cause these warnings.

Then de-activate wppa+, and activate the (renamed) new version 5.0.1
Hopefully there will be a usefull errormessage.

    Dear Opa Jaap,

I stumbled upon your plugin tonight and it’s great so far.
    Really great functionality!

However I just wanted to mention that since I didn’t upgrade, but just installed without having previous versions running, I also found this limit of only 1 upload per try, no matter which way I tried. (Box A, B or C)

You were most probably aware, but I just wanted to mention that is also for new, fresh installs (I installed 5.02 on WP 3.5.1).

Thanks for your work on this great plugin so far!

    Regards,

    What browser do you use?

If you are asking me which browser version, I can tell you that we have tested on FF 20.0.1 and IE8 8.0.6001 on Win XP Pro and FF 20.0.1 and IE 10.0.9200.16540 on Win 7 Pro both browsers produced consistent, unsuccessful results.

I have added debug messages as you mentioned and deactivated all plugins and set the theme to twenty twelve theme. After renaming the related plugin directory for wppa+, I reactivated the 5.0.1 version and made sure that the plugin was reset in the setting and made sure I had the correct version of the .js as docs mention. The result was the same – attempts to upload multiple photos failed, except for the first image in the list and it displayed no errors and simply a blank white page in the related frame; other than this behavior, the plug-in seemed to work fine. I went a step further and upgraded the 5.0.1 version to 5.0.2 version and received the following during the update:

    Downloading update from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/wp-photo-album-plus.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Installing the latest version…

WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]
    UPDATE <code>wp_options</code> SET <code>option_value</code> = 'a:0:{}' WHERE <code>option_name</code> = 'active_plugins'

Removing the old version of the plugin…

    Plugin updated successfully.

    Return to Plugins page

WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]
    SELECT autoload FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = '_site_transient_update_plugins'
    "

The new version of the plugin produced the same result when attempting to upload multiple photos.

I have since reverted back to 4.9.19 – do you have any other suggestions?

You need to download, unzip and ftp up. You may, but do not need to de-activate and reactivate the plugin. Run the Setup on Table VIII-A1 after install.

BTW 4.9.18 is the latest 4.x version, not 4.9.19

    Hello Jaap,

Try it with a few small photos ( say 240 * 360 pixels or so ) then we can see if it is a server limitation.

    Sorry Jaap,

I just changed to version 4.9.18 already.
Now I can upload multiple files, so apparantly the problem was not a server limitation.
