I’m seeing a strange bug where any *new* files I upload result in 404 errors.

I’ve tested changing my *existing* HTML and CSS files and I can successfully edit them, but just cannot create new ones.

I can also see the new files are in my remote folder after I’ve uploaded them via FTP. So FTP is not the issue.

I suspect it’s a bug with 4.2.4 as this only happened recently since the auto-update.

It’s pretty frustrating. While I can do some work on by adding code to the files already there, I can’t do things like upload new images or stylesheets.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

For clarity, I took some screenshots of a failed attempt to upload a new logo image:

    Filezilla
    – This shows that I have both images in my remote folder.

    ‘Logo-2’
    – This shows that my existing logo is successfully retrieved when I go to the relevant URL

    Filezilla
Finally, this shows that my newly uploaded logo image results in a 404, despite the path being fine and it existing right alongside the old logo in the remote folder.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks ??

Make sure you have cleared your cache if you’re using one (WP Super Cache etc), also try Going to Settings->Permalinks and just clicking Save.

I tried but unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue. Thank v much for the input though.

If anyone has any other ideas it would be much appreciated as this causing big problems.

Ok, I have found that using good ol’ Filezilla to upload new files works.

(Before I had a Sublime Text plugin that was doing auto FTP uploads whenever I saved new changes).

So although I still have no idea how the file exists in the remote, but can’t be accessed – the workaround I will use it to use Filezilla for new files, and continue to use the Sublime plugin to update changes on existing files.
