Cannot upload sommerce theme

  • Hello, I am new to WordPress and I am attempting to setup a shop site. I bought the Sommerce theme and have already downloaded it onto my computer, but when I attempt to upload it to WordPress, it gives me the “Forbidden” error and tells me “You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/update.php on this server.”

    How should I upload my shop theme then? It is in .zip format and on my hard disk. I use iPage as my domain hosting.

  • It sounds like the permissions on your hosting account are preventing you from uploading the theme from within the WordPress interface.

    You have 2 options:
    1. Upload the theme folder via FTP to the “themes” folder inside the wp-content folder

    OR

    I am new to this as well and after doing the download this is what listed:

    Broken Themes

    The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    Sommerce_Premium_WordPress_Theme Stylesheet is missing.

    Baby step help please as I know nothing about what/where to look for the missing stylesheet.

    Well problem fixed.
    My hubby advised me that I needed to extract files from the zip folders in my cPanel file manager.
    I’ve never dealt with a zip folder before and so as this may seem like an obviouse step, to most but not all.

    and I stumbled into the sommerce Help/how-to information among the downloaded information in the documentation folder as a Windows Internet Explorer file.
