cannot use reset password from website login

  • Hello,

    I changed my password and cannot login to website I built with the new password.

    I tried to reset the password.

    This happened:
    Error: The password you entered for the email address [email protected] is incorrect. Lost your password?

    I followed the “Lost your password” link and the advice on that page.
    I got this error: “The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails.”

    I left creating a contact page as the site didn’t need one, I didn’t think it necessary
    and didn’t realize it could be essential for password recovery if that’s the case.

    The www.ads-software.com login page would not let me in with the new password and didn’t even recognize the same registered email address.

    Unless someone could kindly help me with a solution, I’m going to have to build a new website and take the current one down.

    This article lists several completely different ways to reset your password. Any one of them will work and do the job. Find the one that’s right for you and use that: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/ My preference is to use phpmyadmin to change the password.

    Hello again,

    I have tried everything in the links supplied.

    To use the methods from within www.ads-software.com I have tried to login using the correct credentials and I get the following error message:

    “Unknown email address. Check again or try your username”

    I am definitely using the correct email registered on www.ads-software.com
    The system doesn’t recognize me.

    The only solution that was relevant for me as I’m locked out of www.ads-software.com is the first option:

    `Through the automatic emailer #Through the automatic emailer
    If you know your username or the email account in your profile, you can use the “lost password” feature of WordPress.
    Go to your WordPress Login page (something like https://yoursite.com/wordpress/wp-login.php)
    Click on the “Lost your password?” link
    You will be taken to a page to enter some details. Enter your username or the email address on file for that account.
    Wait happily as your new password is emailed to you.
    Once you get your new password, login to your profile page and change this password to something you can remember.`

    When I do the above steps I get this error:

    “The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails.”

    As I said before, use the PHPMYADMIN method. Look at wp_users to verify email and userid, too.

    You mean logged into YOUR WEBSITE? No. You need to login to your hosting control panel. Note that your login for www.ads-software.com has nothing to do with logging into your own site.

    I cannot login into my hosting control panel as well as not being able to login into my website.

    My website comes up with the error message:

    Error: The password you entered for the email address [email protected] is incorrect. Lost your password?

    When logging into my hosting control panel,www.ads-software.com I get this error message:

    “Unknown email address. Check again or try your username”

    I have used the correct email address and correct username and I’m locked out of www.ads-software.com Its giving me no chance to recover password as it’s not recognizing the email address.

    That should be addressed with your host.

    “When logging into my hosting control panel,www.ads-software.com” www.ads-software.com is not your host. What’s your site’s URL? We can determine the host from that.

    Its www.ads-software.com that I cannot log into as well as the above website.

    Clearly, you *are* logging into www.ads-software.com, or you could not post here. With respect to your own website, this article lists several completely different ways to reset your password.     Sorry, should have explained that I was forced to setup another www.ads-software.com account to get technical assistance here.

    My hosting (siteground) somehow handles the login for www.ads-software.com, that’s why www.ads-software.com login wouldn’t work and why the registered email was not recognised. I can only access www.ads-software.com via siteground.

    Thanks for that link, that will solve my other problem of logging in to my website.
