Cannot validate yet still published

    Hi there,

    I’ve had a bit of trouble with putting this podcast live previously due to some website issues which are currently being sorted out. (WordPress updates etc)

    I’ve never had a problem validating the feed (https://www.gunpowderconsulting.co.uk/feed/podcast) until now.

    The latest episode is live for subscribers, Spotify and Acast, however Itunes is saying there is an error so it has not appeared in the store.

    Could anyone advise why this might be? We will be updating our host provider very soon, as I understand it could be due to the wordpress update not being undertaken.

    Hello Isabelle,

    Something changed with your web hosting or the servers they are on perhaps? I checked with our validator and it says that your server does not support HEAD requests. HEAD requests are required for Apple podcasts.

    I see an additional problem that will cause issues for Google podcasts, you have the headers set in your feed X-Robots-Tag: noindex, follow. The no index tell Google not to index this podcast. I think you may have Yoast SEO’s plugin, if you do please search the forum this has been discussed a few times before you can do a number of options to fix this.

    Hello Isabelle,

    I just did another HEAD test and it works. I wonder if your server has other security in place which may be blocking some requests and allowing others? Perhaps Mod security? What ever feature it is it is random. Apple servers use the user agetn “iTMS” and their IP addresses have “no reverse pointer records”, you can pass that into whom ever sets up your website.
