Canonical URL entries seems NOT working
-
Hello Support,
I am running ecommerce site on wordpress using woocommerce. The theme i am using is a professional theme from themeforest.
Using 1.4.15 version of SEO Yoast plugin.I have one product page which is now showing 404 error (May be because we change URL of one product or edited / deleted long time ago).
The URL is – https://www.shopee5.com/shop/accessories/stylish-orange-cotton-shoulder-handbag/
The actual product page which is working is – https://www.shopee5.com/shop/accessories/stylish-shoulder-cotton-handbag/
Now, what i want or what i am trying is to redirect the above link to the below working one.
So, i am entering the above 404 URL under “Canonical URL” field in the Edit page of the working link, thinking that if anybody clicks or enters the 404 link – https://www.shopee5.com/shop/accessories/stylish-orange-cotton-shoulder-handbag/
he will be redirected to this working link – https://www.shopee5.com/shop/accessories/stylish-shoulder-cotton-handbag/But unfortunately, it is NOT redirecting from that 404 link to the new working link.
Is it so. Am i thinking right. If so, why it is NOT working this way.If NOT, then what is the alternative solution. How can i redirect someone, so that if anybody uses that above 404 error link, he will be redirected to this new one.
Kindly suggest.
Anybody’s help will be appreciable.
