    Hi Dustin,

The Canonical URL is generated on the fly.
And you can also set your own for each Post and Page, the generated one is shown within the edit screen’s SEO Metabox as a placeholder.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Have a great day :).

    Hi,

i have a question for automatically generated canonical tags at WPML translated pages.

Case “Automatical generated canonicals”: They are working fine on the original page, but not with translated pages. We are using WPML for translations.

    Example Original page:
    original URL = https://www.x.com/page/
    canonical source code frontend = = https://www.x.com/page/
    canonical in backend preview = = https://www.x.com/page/

    Example translated page:
    original URL = = https://www.x.com/en/page/
    canonical source code frontend = = https://www.x.com/page/
    canonical in backend preview = = https://www.x.com/en/page/

It’s possible to solve this problem when you enter the canonical manually, but it would be nice if this automatically happens. Normally you don’t see this “error”, because the backend says everything is fine. My SEO tool has noticed it.

Btw. thanks for the nice plugin ??

    Hi Thomas,

In the beta of version 2.6.0 there already have been set a great deal of improvements regarding the WPML Canonical URL and translation keys (for object cache, and the like).

Feel free to test it out and report back. But kindly in a new topic or the linked one above as this one’s a bit unrelated :).

Thanks and have a great day!

P.S. Can you name which SEO Tool noticed it? It might shave off a lot of testing time for me. Thanks!

I know this is somewhat off-topic (not entirely), but I think it would be good to have more social features. The ability to choose which images are used when sharing, and some of the other features that Social Warfare offers.

That probably opens up a whole new arena, but it’s a great idea for a pro version? I dislike having multiple plugins (that seemingly conflict) for everything. An SEO plugin with integrated social sharing would be one-of-a-kind … but I realize you’re only one person. ??

    Hi Dustin,

One person with a lot of dedication and focus can achieve a lot :), never forget that!

Image SEO is planned this year, I even expect it to be in 2.7.0!
Having it all aligned is quite a difficult task (and JS based) so that should become a premium extension. However, I’ll be sure to get the basics extensively covered for everyone’s needs.

This should be the goal with the planned feature for 2.7.0:
    Rich Snippets for Articles.

    Which is very doable.
And when that’s available, I’m sure everyone will jump a big hole in the roof :).

Extensive image control, like how to perfectly align it for Google+, Facebook, Twitter, etc., is something that I still need to think about.

In my opinion, it’s already an improvement over most. A paid version wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’m seriously impressed—more people should know about this plugin! But I think there should be a way to move data reliably over from Yoast, even though I am aware that is more complicated than it sounds. Thanks!

    Hi Dustin,

    Thank you so much! ??

There is a plugin for moving data :). The tutorial is found right here.

Covering every single aspect for transportation (i.e. the Site SEO Settings) isn’t planned; as it’s not only very broad, but also quite sensitive as the data is handled in different ways.
Of course, it’s possible (and more complicated than it sounds). But I believe the time is better spent in new SEO functionality, which is indeed much easier (and more enjoyable!).

    Hi Sybre,

sorry for the unrelated post. I will try the newest version and post into a new thread if i have more issues. Thanks a lot!

I’m using the SEO tool XOVI.
