Canonical URLs for Multipage (NextPage) Articles

Hello,

WordPress SEO automatically makes canonical urls for each page of a multipage post. For example, if I have a three page post on URL:

https://myurl.com/article/
https://myurl.com/article/2/
https://myurl.com/article/3/

It spits out canonical=”https://myurl.com/article/2/” for the second page. Because of this, Google is forced to index each page separately, which is not good. I recognize that some people might want canonical urls on every page, but I have a suggestion – why not add an option in the settings to enable or disable this behavior?
