Can’t access account
-
I can’t log into my previous account because my email was unrecognized. I had to create a new account which doesn’t have any of our organization’s information.
How do I gain access to this information? Our website is down because of this.

if you have access to the webhosting account that is connected to your website there are several options to change password and change email addresses for users. this can be done in the database. are you able to access the webhosting account that is connected to your website?

Bigger issue is that WordPress deleted our website when we changed platforms. It appears that at the same time that was done, our log in credentials were removed as well.
Nothing should have happened to the content and pages we built out on WordPress.WordPress is free software available for download from www.ads-software.com. All content is stored and controlled in your webhosting account (i.e. files and database)
“Bigger issue is that WordPress deleted our website when we changed platforms.”
Is your webhosting account still active from before the platform was changed?
Do you have a backup of the database and files from before the platform was changed? If by “webhosting account” you mean, www.ads-software.com, yes. But my original account was deleted BY wordpress.
If by “webhosting account” you mean godaddy or some other account, this is not accurate as they point to wordpress.*www.ads-software.com does not serve as a webhost.
*Did you possibly have an account through WordPress.com instead? (a separate program) – if yes then reach out to the support team for WordPress.com using this link https://wordpress.com/support/
No, we did not have an account through wordpress.com. I already had the run-around with them.
I also spoke to GoDaddy, our webhost. When we pointed our web address away from our wordpress site to another platform, our wordpress was deleted completely – we have no way to access our data that was entered via wordpress. WordPress is withholding our material.
Hello,
This is a little complicated to understand, but I think I’ve got it.
If you are paying for wordpress hosting, for example at GoDaddy, your website will always be there unless you stop paying the bills and GoDaddy decides to terminate the service. At that point, everything will be deleted. You have said that you have not had a wordpress.com account, and that you used to have an account here.
I think you thought that the same data you used to access the administration (domain.com/wp-admin), were valid to enter here and no, they are two totally different points.Following the line, you said that you talked to GoDaddy because you changed your web address to another platform, that is to say, you pointed the DNS to another service. When you do that, the domain stops pointing to the web space where you had the WordPress installation but this does not mean that it has been removed, simply that the address is no longer pointing to the same site.
As @contentiskey said, there are many ways to extract the information from a wordpress installation, you just have to ask for them.Personally, I recommend you to make your domain point to the wordpress installation, extract all the information you need and then unsubscribe the service or repoint the domain to another platform.
Hope it helps ??
“you pointed the DNS to another service. When you do that, the domain stops pointing to the web space where you had the WordPress installation but this does not mean that it has been removed, simply that the address is no longer pointing to the same site.”
Yes, I pointed it to another service and yes, the WordPress installation should not have been removed and yet IT HAS BEEN REMOVED!“..there are many ways to extract the information from a wordpress installation, you just have to ask for them.”
I have been trying to find how to “ask for them” but there is no one at wordpress to ask, it seems.Yes, I pointed it to another service and yes, the WordPress installation should not have been removed and yet IT HAS BEEN REMOVED!
So, your problem is with GoDaddy, not with WordPress. A WordPress installation is not deleted by magic or by changing the domain DNS. When you hire a web hosting, that space is yours to do whatever you want and nobody can modify anything if you do not give permission.
I have been trying to find how to “ask for them” but there is no one at wordpress to ask, it seems.
You must understand that if we do not understand your problem, we would not know where to guide you.
But okay, let’s check if your wordpress installation is still active:
In your client area (GoDaddy), you should be able to see the hosting service. You have to find the option that says ‘File Manager’ or something like that.
When you get access to the file manager, you will see many folders and a browser on the left. Make sure you are in the ‘public_html’ folder.
Do you see folders named ‘wp-admin’, ‘wp-content’ and ‘wp-includes’?—
If you cannot locate the file manager, please contact GoDaddy support. Please understand that we do not have access to web hosting providers and each one uses different tools.- This reply was modified 2 years, 9 months ago by stfrosty.
GoDaddy has stated that this “public_html” is a root directory.
How can I recover my materials? Our site was created using www.ads-software.com and disappeared when I pointed our domain away from wordpress.
@natewl I archived your new identical topic. Please do not post duplicate topics here.
@natewl It is important to understand something here: There is no company named “WordPress”. Your site was not “created by www.ads-software.com” because that is impossible to do.
See, WordPress is a piece of free software. It’s made by a volunteer community, and we organize it here, on this website. We can’t “delete your data” because we don’t control your data. We don’t hold any of that data for your website.
It’s like thinking that using Microsoft Word and then deleting the document somehow means that Microsoft has a copy of your data. They don’t.
Now, you say that you were hosted at GoDaddy, which means your data is there on GoDaddy’s systems. It’s not here, and it never was. We don’t have access to your data over there.
Earlier, @stfrosty gave you some very useful advice and information. Please read what people are saying, because as long as you think that somehow we’re withholding something from you, then you’re not going to get the answers you want.
We didn’t do anything to your site, and we don’t have anything here to give you other than advice and help. But we’re willing to help if you explain and listen to those people trying to tell you how to find your data.
It would be great if someone could assist on the original post but WordPress does not seem interested in helping me with my account issues.
If WordPress “can’t delete” my data great! I’m happy to hear that!
Why did www.ads-software.com – who ever runs it – delete my organization’s ability to log in?
@otto42, I did follow the advise given, but when I returned after actually speaking with GoDaddy, with additional questions, no one gave additional “very useful advice and information.”
I’m happy to TRY and work with anyone who is willing to help solve this issue!
