I’ve got two websites I’m developing that I can not access the “Add New Custom Field”.

I can pick from a list of things already there, but when I click the button to “Add Custom Field” it opens up the place where you SHOULD be able to type in the new field but instead it has no form fields to type into.

It looks just like this https://ratest9.com/custom-fields.jpg

On other sites I have when you click that button you get someplace to type.

I’ve disabled all plugins and changed to either the 2011 or 2012 themes.

ARG. Ok, maybe the user interface team at WP will see what the confusion was about.

This is the screen you first see:

So I wanted to click the “Add Custom Field” button (because the link that is worded “Enter New” sounds like I’ve done it and now I want to make it stick). And when you do you see the bar open above it move… well you expect to see a FIELD there because there was a movement on the screen.

and the bar above drops down as if something is supposed to have opened there… :-\

Did you find a solution? I’m having the same problem. The custom field has a set of options, but you can’t add your own. Wazzup with that?

The solution is a quirky one: pretend that you want to add one of the fields offered in the list. Click on it, add some dumb value and save. Then save the post. Then go back down to the custom fields and edit the saved fields.
