• Hello, total WP newbie here and obviously made a mistake. I can’t access my admin page after changing something in the dashboard, can’t remember what it was though. site is https://www.jandrewkphoto.com I think I made a change to one of the links but after I made the change I started trying to fix it and got so frustrated forgot where I made the actual mistake. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.
    Jason.

  • Why can’t you access admin?

i.e. you cannot login or when you login you get a whitescreen?

I tried accessing https://www.jandrewkphoto.com/wp-admin I receive a page not found erro and the menu is not where it should be and there is no option to login. Like I said I’m a complete Newb at this stuff so please go easy on me. Thanks again for any input.

It seems nothing is installed on your web hosting. Can you login via FTP and confirm that the files are there?

Ask your hosting provider to check for you.

It appears as though you might have simply added “Home” to the URL in your dashboard general settings. WordPress is installed in your root directory. You will need to use one of the methods suggested in this article to change your URL back. Please read the info carefully. Changing The Site URL

I’m not sure what happened, I changed my web address in one field and saved it by accident and haven’t been able to get back in. It was working fine up until the moment I changed that one field. Anyway I have no idea what code I need to look for or where I should be looking for it inside of my hostgator cp. Is there anyway to completely remove WP from my hostgator acct. and start from scratch? I’m afraid that’s what I may have to do.

If you follow Clayton’s suggestion you might be better off.

Though if you still want to remove WordPress completely, it is not difficult.

Simply delete all the php files where you installed it (typically under public_html if you have 1 website) and delete the MySQL database.

Start again from scratch though this time I would recommend you a manual install or WordPress: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress

@claytonjames that’s exactly what I did and that link was a life saver, thanks again for both of your help.

    You’re welcome.

I use to have a user name <georgesamuel> and would like to reactivate it. How would I do this?
