Can't access admin login page

  • I am having problems with my url, I cannot access my admin login page. I would rather not start tooling around in the phpMyAdmin as it is a little risky. I have tried sending a new password to my username (admin) but I have not received an e-mail.

    I am not sure what the problem is exactly, I thought it was a password thing but I cannot even access my login page which makes me think this is a domain problem. I contacted where I got the domain-bluehost, but they said it is a wordpress issue, what can be done to resolve this?

  • Your description of the issue is a bit confusing. “I cannot access my admin login page” – and yet – “I have tried sending a new password to my username “ …which is usually something done from the login page.

    If you post a link to your site so others could take a look at what’s going on, perhaps it will only take a minute to put you back on course.

    Sorry about that, I was able to try and reset the password through bluehost, best I could do was to get them to resend the e-mail which had the same username/password as before.

    https://www.samorrison.com/

    my login should therefore be at
    https://www.samorrison.com/wp-admin

    but neither will pull up . . . I am new to wp but have been using it with this domain, with few issues, the only technical stuff I have done is point the wp nameservers to my bluehost domain, and it was working fine for a few days and now . . . ?

    Server not found

    Firefox can’t find the server at https://www.samorrison.com.

    That’s not a WordPress issue. The domain “samorrison.com” can’t be resolved. You will need to contact support at BlueHost and tell them the server can’t be found, rather than just telling them that you have a problem logging into WordPress.

    I will see what they say, but is it possible to point a www.ads-software.com site to bluehost or is it only done by pointing the bluehost to the wordpress site, I would check but I cannot get into my account.

    here is what bluehost said:

    Currently the domain is pointed at wordpress.com so if there is an issue with the site would have to be on their end, if you would like to host the site on your bluehost account, log into the domain manager, and change the name servers back to ours. Otherwise you will want to check with wordpress.com and make sure your account is set up correctly on their end, and if its just going to take some time for dns to update.

    Your site now appears at samorrison.com. I suspect you can probably now log in.

    I figured out the fix by myself and wanted to share for future users.

    I had bought my domain name on a different website/different company than my hosting. So I bought my domain at Active Domain and was getting hosting from Bluehost.com.

    I had to go to my domain purchased site (active domain) and point the nameservers to bluehost.

    Steps Taken:
    I first found what my nameservers were through the domain panel on bluehost. Then went to Active domain and updated my nameservers to the bluehost server names.

    NOTE: It will take about 48-72 hours for changes to be reflected.
